St. Ignatius College had the distinguished honor of paying a courtesy call on the Vice President of Zambia, Her Honor Mrs. Mutale Nalumango. The delegation, led by the College Principal, Mrs. Mary Bishonga Chanda, comprised the college Vice Principal Fr. Tanaka Mashiche SJ, teachers and students, who engaged in a meaningful dialogue on education, leadership and national development.
Vice President Nalumango commended Jesuit education for its holistic approach to student formation—intellectually, morally and spiritually. “We value partners like St. Ignatius College, who share our commitment to developing young leaders. When you help the government fulfill such a great mission, we give you respect,” she remarked. She further reaffirmed the government’s dedication to strengthening partnerships in the education sector, emphasizing the importance of collaboration with institutions like St. Ignatius College.
In her remarks, Mrs.Mary Bishonga Chanda expressed appreciation for the government’s commitment to expanding access to education, describing it as a “game-changer and an equalizer, opening doors and opportunities beyond imagination.” She reiterated St. Ignatius College’s deep commitment to forming global citizens rooted in Jesuit values and dedicated to justice.
In a vote of thanks, student leader Keisha Kaunda applauded the government for fostering a conducive learning environment through the Free Education Policy and its role in shaping the future of young learners.
