In keeping with our Jesuit tradition of “being men and women for and with others,” we are once again launching our annual Lenten Campaign dubbed ‘Teach Me To Be Generous.’
Each year, the Lenten Campaign stands as a key part of our faith life at SIC. It is a time when we, as a college community, come together in solidarity to make a tangible difference in the lives of the poor and vulnerable in our communities. Over the years, the Lentend Campaign has enabled us to provide essential assistance to various groups, including the Taonga Children from rural Chikuni, victims of Cyclone Idai in Malawi, the Children’s Ward at the Cancer Diseases Hospital, and patients at Chainama Hills Hospital, among others. These acts of charity have not only brought relief to our brothers and sisters in need but have also shaped our students into compassionate leaders committed to the service of others.
For this year’s campaign, our students across different year groups have chosen to raise funds from their own contributions, from families as well as well-wishers and collect donations in support of the following charities:
- Form 1 – Mtendere Community School
- Grade 9 – Hands of Mercy Home for the Aged
- Grade 10 – Chainama Hills Hospital
- Grade 11 – Cancer Diseases Hospital (Children’s Ward)
- Grade 12 – Poor Clares (Contemplative Sisters devoted to prayer and service)
The campaign will be launched on Ash Wednesday 4 March, with a Mass at 14:30hrs at the college campus. Together, let us live out the true spirit of Lent through prayer, fasting and almsgiving, making a real impact in the lives of those who need us most.
